Bacolod City

Over the past two months or so I have been working on my first Time-lapse video and I decided I wanted to do one of Bacolod City, on Negros Occidental.  Bacolod City is a pretty busy place.  Not any where as busy as Manila or as large but it’s busy compared to what I know back in Vancouver BC, Canada.  Though I find it interesting how friendly everyone is here in Bacolod City.  I am one who will say good morning to strangers on the street as I walk it always amazes me how everyone here that I speak too will speak back, no matter what language barrier there is, young and old, woman or male, if you attempt to speak they will respond, or even vice versa.  In the morning when I walk to the Jeepney many will say Good Morning Joe to me, I love
it.

Having lived in Vancouver BC the past three years, I slowly stopped speaking to people on the street, as most people look at you as if you are a leper, scowl on their face, they will clutch their bag that much tighter because obviously you are going to attack them.  I was always left with my mouth hanging open at peoples cold responses.  I have to laugh, so many post on Facebook about the warm temperatures so early in the winter though the city especially Vancouver is easily one of the coldest places on earth. The scenery is beautiful but the people have a lot left to be desired.  I was always told it was because it was a big city, but why is it only in Vancouver that I find this to be the case.  I have been to Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Phnom Penh, Toronto, Halifax, and Montreal but it is nothing as crazy and cold as Vancouver.

So here is a Time-lapse Video shot in Bacolod City, see the hustle and bustle of this place, the number of people on the streets, in the stores and coffee shops.  Bacolod City the city of smiles!!

Photo Gallery Update

RunAwayProp has had the opportunity to do a Photo Gallery Update with images from our time in Cambodia.  Cambodia was an amazing place to live.  Something like the wild west in some areas, and then in others, just a chilled relaxed place to spend my time.  I worked at EcoSea Dive center from 2010 – 2011, and it was an interesting time.  Some days very rewarding, and others very challenging.

Cambodia has a lot to offer the traveller with some of the most interesting historical sites, from a time in their history where the host heinous crimes against humanity occurred,  the temples are beautiful and people are so very friendly.  Pay attention of course to your belongs as they can go missing pretty quickly.

Diving here is very interesting, with low visibility but some amazing

macro life, muck diving heaven if you are into it.  If you are planning on big visibility and huge pelagics you will be disappointed, but muck diving is the rage, in my opinion of course.   Be sure to carefully select your dive operator.  While working there, I was witness to some unethical behavior,  one liveaboard would pump their oily bilge water to the ocean, while on the reefs as long as the guests were underwater where it could not be witnessed, and the owner professes to be concerned about the environment.

If you have any questions be sure to let me know, and I hope you enjoy the Photo Gallery Update.

RunAway Prop is going to expand and discuss and show pictures from our time living and working in Cambodia.  My information will be a couple of years out of date.  Some of the players will have changed, but the game will be the same I can guarantee you.  I lived in Sihanoukville and worked with Scuba Nation Dive as well as Eco Sea Dive and sadly I was part of the conflicted that existed between the two places.  I will do my best to concentrate on stories of the beauty found in Cambodia, and not the silly little games that the Westerners would play.  Stop back sometime this week and I will do my best to have some posts completed.
